(Lima, Perú) December 16, 2015 – Acreditas Global president and CEO Dr. Stephen A. Martin, Ph.D., M.P.H., will address attendees at the Primer Foro Profesional de Enferemría: Acreditacíon Internacional on the topic of health care accreditation as a strategy for improving public health on Friday in Lima.
Dr. Martin is the leader of Acreditas Global, a U.S.-based organization which helps international health care facilities raise the level of their care by reaching universal quality standards. Facilities which reach the standards receive recognition for their commitment to delivering their patients a high level of health care. Currently, five Peruvian organizations have received this recognition: Aliada, Clínica Santa Isabel, MEDAVAN, and Smiles Perú in Lima, and Clínica Sanchez Ferrer in Trujillo.
“Health care accreditation is a framework which has the power to raise the level of medical care throughout Perú,” Dr. Martin said. “Accreditation spreads successful medical practices, promotes accountability and rewards medical providers who are committed to the best interests of their patients. It is an honor to present to health care leaders in Lima on accreditation’s potential in Perú.”
In addition to Acreditas Global, Dr. Martin is president and CEO of its sister organization, the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), which provides health care accreditation to more than 6,000 medical organizations in the U.S. Dr. Martin holds a master’s degree in public health from Tulane University and a doctorate degree in epidemiologic science from the University of Michigan. Before taking leadership of Acreditas Global and AAAHC, he directed community health initiatives for the America Hospital Association, the largest hospital association in the U.S., and was chief of the Cook County (Illinois) Department of Public Health, one of the largest public health jurisdictions in the U.S.
Dr. Martin will speak during the conference at the Colegio de Enfermeros Consejo Regional III, located at Jirón Brigadier Mateo Pumacahua 2141, in the Lince neighborhood of Lima.
